DAD Expansion Roadmap

DAD AVB Milan ST2110 scaled

Digital Audio Denmark offers expansion cards across Analog In, Analog Out, Dante, MADI, AES and 3G SDI for its Thunder | Core and Penta product ranges. At NAB 2025 (Booth SL11013), the company reveals what existing and potential customers can expect for the future in terms of expandability.

With a strong focus on Live Sound Production, it makes sense that DAD is currently working on adding AVB Milan expansion cards to the roster. And to broadcasters, an upcoming ST 2110 expansion card will also be a crucial addition that will ensure integration of network-driven audio routing at broadcast facilities and in OB trucks, bridging the gaps across a wealth of different digital audio formats.

“These upcoming expansion options will add whole new dimensions to our already broad range of expansion options for Thunder | Core and Penta,” says Mikael Vest, COO, NTP Technology. “The AVB Milan card will unlock the full potential of our Control | Pack solution for Live Sound engineers everywhere, whether at FOH, Monitor Mix or Playback Stations. Similarly, the ST 2110 option will make an impact not only at broadcast facilities, but also in post-production where network-based video and audio infrastructures are increasingly being adopted.”

DAD’s AX64, AX32 and Penta 720 units are capable of holding up to eight expansion cards, while it’s AX Center holds up to two and Penta 721s has room for one. Core 256 can be expanded with SFP modules, but given its compact footprint, it does not take expansion cards. However, given that all DAD units are controlled form the same DADman software, Core 256 can easily be a part of a larger setup, spanning multiple DAD units with a variety of installed expansion cards.
