KLANG IEM Mixes :vokal+ Upgrade

KLANG IEM vokal upgrade

KLANG:technologies announces the PLASA launch of a new software upgrade for its :vokal immersive in-ear monitor mixing system, which was first introduced alongside the company’s :kontroller in 2021. With a simple purchase from KLANG’s new shop, :vokal owners can quickly transform their existing processor into a :vokal+, significantly increasing the product’s input channel count from 24 to a full 64 channels for all 12 binaural mixes.

Available for a nominal fee, the optional :vokal+ upgrade is one of the key benefits of KLANG’s newest operating system, KOS 5.6, which is free of charge and additionally brings the same root-intensity EQs found in the :vokal and :konductor natively to DiGiCo console worksurfaces via the popular DMI-KLANG card.

“The DMI-KLANG was designed as a minimalistic-yet-powerful immersive processor for DiGiCo monitor desks, while :vokal was originally created to be the perfect match for our :kontroller as a personal mixing system,” says KLANG co-founder Dr. Pascal Dietrich. “We’ve had a significant number of :vokal customers tell us that the processor’s 24-channel limit per mix led them to consider using the DMI-KLANG instead, but they didn’t want to give up their EQs. So we had our team redesign and optimize the FPGA immersive audio core without incurring any compromises in audio quality or latency. Now, with the launch of KOS 5.6 and the :vokal+ software upgrade, it is possible to have the same input channel count - including our root-intensity EQs - on both systems with the original mix count of each product.”

“With the increased channel count on :vokal+ and our continuous goal to create a streamlined experience for our users, we are also introducing Group Spill on :kontroller with KOS 5.6. This feature provides users with easy access to all channels in a group through :kontroller’s channel banks. To complement this, KOS 5.6 introduces several Quick Setup Wizards, such as the Setup and IP Wizards, to make every setup easy and intuitive.”

The :vokal+ upgrade process takes only five minutes, with no hardware changes required. Following the online purchase, the customer receives a license file that can be simply dragged and dropped into the :app connected to the processor, directly activating the channel boost and unleashing the full potential of :vokal+.

With :vokal+, KLANG's product portfolio grows by adding another problem-solver, delivering solutions and perfectly bridging the gap between :vokal and DMI-KLANG. This makes KLANG’s immersive mixing systems accessible to an even wider range of environments and users.

Housed in a compact 1U chassis, the KLANG:vokal (and :vokal+) impress with a dedicated feature set that allows up to 12 musicians to pick up to 24 mono or stereo channels out of 64 Dante and MADI inputs. For example, mixes can be sent out via MADI to a console or via Dante to KLANG:kontroller. Based on KLANG’s powerful, new generation, ultra-low latency FPGA core, KLANG:vokal offers 12 mixes of 24 mono or stereo inputs at 48kHz and 96kHz.

KLANG KOS 5.6 is available as a free update for all KLANG immersive processors and allows interoperability of all related products and apps.
