The 153rd AES Convention on 19th and 20th October 2022 in New York brings the international industry together with presentations and trade show areas. Since 1949, the Audio Engineering Society has been organizing this event “by the industry for the industry”. This year, Lake People will be among the many renowned exhibitors: the quality manufacturer from Lake Constance showcases its sophisticated products at booth 429 on level 3 with US distributor American Music and Sound.

For more than 35 years, Lake People has been providing audio professionals with high-quality devices, adhering to the company motto: “tools, not toys.” The team of developers surrounding mastermind Fried Reim continually works on refining the intricate circuitry of headphone amplifiers, converters, microphone preamps and other studio tools. All Lake People products are manufactured in the company’s own workshop and undergo rigorous quality control – the users can rely on their Lake People product’s perfect performance. Aside from outstanding sound and manufacturing quality, Lake People tools are characterized by clever ideas and circuit concepts, making them invaluable for studio work.

Lake People headphone amplifiers enjoy a legendary reputation. Fried Reim – author of the “Headphone Amplifier Cookbook” for a reason – revised and updated popular models G103 and G105 with his team of developers. Both amplifiers deliver the transparent, noise-free amplification Lake People is known for. The innovative pre-gain circuit allows the amps to accommodate almost every type of headphones – low-impedance, high-impedance, magnetostatic, all these configurations can be driven with Lake People amplifiers. The G105 Mk II further offers the option to split the stereo signal and feed one channel to each of the two headphone jacks, so two mono headphone mixes can be provided to two musicians via just one stereo connection. As simple as it is brilliant, and a serious aid in lots of studio situations. Both models can be checked out at the American Music and Sound booth.

Lake People also covers optimal amplification for microphone signals. The F311 delivers two or four channels of first-grade transparent amplification in one unit. The sophisticated stepped gain circuit achieves a maximum of 66 dB gain in twelve 6-dB steps, making it very easy to match channels or recall setups. Phantom power can be switched on or off in pairs. Phase reverse, a 70-Hz low cut and a gain meter with seven steps complete the preamp feature list. Even more luxuriously equipped comes the F355: two gain pots grant access to the positions in between the steps for fine-tuning signal levels by +/- 5 dB. The low cut filter is not set to 70 Hz but can be adjusted from 12 to 250 Hz, while a 12-dB pad controls particularly loud input signals. Phantom power can be switched per channel, as can phase reverse and mute. The F355 is also available in a Class-A variant.

Attendees of the AES Convention can find the Lake People mic preamps and headphone amplifiers with American Music and Sound at booth 429 on level 3. The AES Convention takes place on 19th and 20th October 2022 at Jacob Javits Center in New York. The experts at the booth look forward to interesting talks.
